    General Coffee Information

    Here we have general information about the types and history of coffee. First however we show you videos of how coffee is produced.

    Floating the Coffee Berry. Coffee beans are the seed of the coffee plant and are located inside a berry.

    Pulping the coffee berry to get to the bean. Pulping the berry removes the bean from the berry.

    Fermenting the Coffee Bean. This removes the final bits of berry from the bean.

    Drying the Coffee Bean. After fermenting its time to dry the bean to get it ready to sort.

    Sorting the Coffee Beans. Before the coffee is ready for roasting it needs to be sorted and inferior beans removed.

    • It takes at least five years to get 1st crop from a tree.
    • Very labor intensive, the cherries ripen gradually. They are picked as they turn red over several weeks.

      • will tolerate higher temperatures and more rainfall

    • Quality and Freshness are vital to good coffee.
    • Coffee can be stored a long time in the green bean form without deteriorating.
    • Use within 2 weeks after roasting.
    • Whole bean coffee will keep 3 months in the freezer.
    • Always keep roasted coffee in an airtight container.
    • For best results, store on the counter, refrigeration can add flavors and moisture, freezing can cause freezer burn.
